Dell has entered into an agreement with MyCom and Vobis whereby hardware from the hardware manufacturer will also be for sale in those stores. Other stores will follow shortly. Earlier, Dynabyte started selling Dell products.
Through the deal with Bas Group, home distributor and owner of the two PC stores, Dell is significantly expanding its presence in physical stores. The hardware maker previously entered into a similar agreement with Dynabyte, the only physical store to date that sold Dell products.
The agreement at the time with Dynabyte ended a 25-year period in which Dell was responsible for the sale of its systems. Dell’s distribution strategy was to ship the systems directly to consumers. This changed in 2007, when the manufacturer also started supplying retail chains in the US, after Dell had previously experimented with its own stores on a modest scale.
In various European countries, such as France and the United Kingdom, Dell has since become active with retail sales as well, but in the Netherlands the manufacturer continued to supply exclusively through its site for a long time. After the agreement with Dynabyte, a deal has now also been concluded with Bas Group, the company has announced. Bas Group is the owner of the MyCom and Vobis chains and also supplies it products to various resellers in the Netherlands through its subsidiary Bas Distributie. These resellers can also start selling Dell PCs and laptops.
