Maxon, known for the applications Cinebench, Cinema4D and Bodypaint3D, among others, has acquired Redshift Rendering Technologies. Redshift is best known for its GPU rendering software. The amount of the acquisition is not yet known.

Maxon states in a press release that it believes that creating content is becoming more complex and that the demand for more efficient and scalable rendering software is also increasing. The company says the Redshift team brings extensive experience in rendering, especially in the field of GPU technology.

Redshift is currently working on a new version of its program: Redshift 3.0. Maxon says that nothing will change about the release date of the software, although it is not yet known. The price of the software will remain the same, and Maxon’s proprietary software will continue to support other third-party plug-ins as well. For users who already have a license from Redshift, nothing changes.

Redshift has become big in the software world in a short time. Founded in 2012, the software company’s rendering software has been used for visual effects on projects such as Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and American Gods, among others. Blizzard also uses the Redshift software.
