Lenovo has presented the first laptops with mobile Xeon processors. The Thinkpads have the Xeon E3 1500M v5 on board, combined with up to 64GB DDR4 memory and an SSD with a maximum capacity of 1TB.

Some details of the laptop are still missing, such as the GPU used. It is in any case an Nvidia Quadro model, but Lenovo does not mention which it is. It is clear that the Thinkpad P50 and P70 are the first notebooks announced to have a Xeon processor for laptops on board. Intel announced the arrival of those processors last weekend.

Customers can choose an SSD up to 1TB or a HDD up to 2TB. The laptop contains a maximum of 64GB DDR4 memory in four Sodimm slots. The workstations have an IPS screen with UHD resolution, with the option to take a touchscreen with full HD resolution. The screens are 15.6″ or 17.3″ in size. There are two Thunderbolt 3 ports for connecting monitors, among other things.

Lenovo supplies the laptops with Windows 10, Windows 8.1 or even Windows 7, while there are also options to get the workstations with Red Hat or Ubuntu. The Thinkpad P50 and P70 will be released in October, November or December. The smaller P50 will cost from 1599 dollars, currently converted 1456 euros. The P70 starts at 1999 dollars.
