Rockstar will release upgraded versions of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S on November 11th. The developer still does not provide substantive details on what has been improved.
Besides the release date and the platforms on which the improved versions will appear, Rockstar does not provide any details . Last year it was already announced that a new version for the new consoles would appear, but what exactly the ‘expanded and improved’ version entails, Rockstar does not say that yet.
The developer does say that the updated versions of GTA will get new features. It is likely that the games will mainly improve graphically. GTA V and GTA Online can now be played on the new consoles via backward compatibility . For GTA Online players, Rockstar promises ‘special benefits’.
Earlier it was already known that GTA V and GTA Online would come to the PlayStation 5 in the second half of 2021. Rockstar did not mention the Xbox Series X and S in concrete terms, but now it does. The PS5 and Xbox Series X and S will be the third generation of consoles for which the 2013 game will be released.
The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S will get a standalone version of GTA Online, separate from the versions on previous generation consoles. That stand-alone version will be free for the first three months for PS5 owners with a PlayStation Plus subscription. PlayStation Plus members playing the current version of GTA Online will receive one million dollars of GTA each month from the PlayStation Store from now on until its release on PS5.
In addition, Rockstar says it is working on special surprises around the 20th anniversary of GTA III, including for GTA Online players. In addition, both GTA Online and Red Dead Online will receive several updates in the coming months, including new content around illegal street racing, new Stunt Races, and several new heist missions in GTA Online. Deadline and Survival mode will also be expanded. Red Dead Online is getting eight new races in the coming week, and this summer the game will get several new missions.
