Huawei has announced which of its smartphones will be equipped with an update to Android 6.0. These include the G7, P8 and devices in the Mate series. Starting next month, building the necessary software will start.

The conscious list of devices has been put on the Chinese site of Huawei. Of the devices in the Ascend series, the P8, G7, Mate S and Mate 7 will receive an update. Several devices in the Honor series also get the new Android software, just like the MediaPad X2 tablet. It is clear from the list that only the more expensive devices from the Chinese manufacturer will receive an update, although the P7 is a striking absentee from the list.

Only next month will Huawei start developing the software updates that Android 6.0, codenamed Marshmallow, should bring to the smartphones. As a result, it will take some time before users will receive the new Android version. That will probably be sometime early next year.

Several smartphone manufacturers have already announced which devices will receive an upgrade to Android 6.0. For example, Sony gives all high-end devices since the Xperia Z2 an update and LG will start rolling out Marshmallow for the G4 next week. Google’s Nexus devices have already received the software update before.
