Huawei does not make the Mate 30 bootloader unlockable after all
Huawei has no plans to unlock the bootloader of the Mate 30 series smartphones. The Chinese electronics manufacturer has clarified this after statements by the company’s CEO, Richard Yu, pointed to the presence of an unlockable bootloader.
Huawei says it has no plans to unlock the bootloader with the Mate 30 to Android Authority. That site published statements by the CEO of the company last weekend from which it could be concluded that Huawei would make the bootloader with its new top models unlockable.
His precise statement was: “We limited bootloader unlocking because we wanted to ensure consumer security. But this time we want to provide more freedom for consumers so that they can customize more themselves. So we plan to let consumers do that.” to do.”
Huawei does not make it clear how the CEO’s statements should be interpreted. The big question is whether and if so how Huawei will enable the installation of Google services. An unlockable bootloader would open the way to installing a custom recovery and subsequent Google services.
