Huawei has announced the Mate X2 smartphone. As Huawei already confirmed, the foldable smartphone has the screen on the inside and not on the outside. The cheapest version costs 17999 yuan, currently converted about 2300 euros.
The phone is closed 161.8×74.6×14.7mm, according to the product page. When opened, the phone measures 161.8×145.8×8.2mm, although it measures 4.4mm at its thinnest point. In that housing are two screens, just like with the Galaxy Z Fold2 from Samsung. The outer screen is a 90Hz OLED screen of 6.45″ and on the inside is a 90Hz OLED screen of 8″.
The soc is a Kirin 9000 from Huawei’s HiSilicon chip division, a 5nm soc made by TSMC. Huawei adds 8GB of RAM of an unknown type and 256GB or 512GB of storage. The primary camera is a 50MP one like it was on last year’s P40 Pro. It is assisted by a 16MP camera with ultra wide angle lens, a 12MP camera with ‘3x zoom’ and an 8MP camera with periscopic lens for ’10x zoom’.
Just like its predecessor, the Mate XS, the phone can charge with 55W and the battery has a capacity of 4500mAh. The phone is currently only available in China with a price of 17999 yuan for the 256GB version and 18999 yuan for the 512GB variant. That is currently converted about 2300 and 2425 euros. The Mate XS cost 2500 euros when released in the Benelux last year. The Mate X2 will be released in China at the end of this week. Huawei has not announced a release in other countries.
