Smartphone manufacturer HTC will soon come with Android 9 Pie updates for the U11, U11+ and U12+ models. The Taiwanese company has announced this itself via its Twitter account.

HTC does not give an exact timing for the Android 9 updates, but says that users of the U11, U11+ and U12+ can expect the software from the second quarter of this year. The availability can according to the manufacturer also vary by country and operator. The three smartphones that will receive the update have appeared on the market between May 2017 and May 2018. The HTC U11 Life, a variant with Android One, already runs the latest operating system from Google.

The core of HTC’s smartphone division was acquired by Google in September 2017 for an amount of 976 million euros. The tech company was mainly concerned with the estimated 2,000 hardware specialists who were already working on Google’s Pixel phones at that time.
