HP Announces New Specter X2 Convertible and Envy Laptops

HP has announced new convertibles and laptops in the Specter and Envy series. All models will have thinner screen bezels and HP will equip the laptops and 2-in-1 systems with Intel Kaby Lake processors. Models with AMD processors are also coming out of the Envy x360.

According to HP, research showed that users of the previous generation Specter X2 saw room for improvement in opening stand, audio quality, resolution and processor power. The manufacturer says that it has focused on those parts. The 2017 Specter X2 features an aluminum housing. No button is needed to open the stand. The screen edge measures 13.75 mm, where it was 19.8 mm with the previous generation.

Furthermore, the Specter’s 12.3″ screen now has an aspect ratio of 3:2 instead of 16:9. The resolution is 3000×2000 pixels. Compared to the predecessor, there are larger speakers and there is a quick charge function for it in a half-hour charge at half capacity.The model features Intel Kaby Lake processors, up to 16GB LPDDR3 and up to 1TB PCI-E SSD storage.The device also has two USB 3.1 Type-C ports and a memory card slot. suggested retail price is 1599 euros and for that price HP supplies an N-Trig stylus.

The Envy laptop is also getting an update and this 13.95 mm thick laptop has an aluminum and magnesium housing. The 13-inch laptop is more compact than its predecessor due to the thinner screen bezels, which have decreased in thickness from 15.68 mm to 5.4 mm. When opening the laptop, the keyboard rises slightly. HP supplies the Envy with Intel Kaby Lake- processors and up to 1TB of PCI-e SSD storage, while the Nvidia MX150 with 2GB of GDDR5 is optional.The laptop will be available in June for a starting price of 899 euros and that is with full HD resolution. also available, but the price is unknown.

A new 17.3″ laptop will also appear in the Envy series, which is 23.3 mm thick, partly due to the optical drive, although that is 2.2 mm thinner than the previous one. Again there are the Intel Kaby Lake chips and the gpu is the GeForce 940MX with 4GB video memory. Finally, there’s a new Envy x360, HP’s flip-up convertible. The Envy x360 with 15.6″ screen has thinner screen bezels, measuring 6.65mm on the sides and 13.9mm on the top. HP supplies this model with an N-trig stylus, and there will be variants with full-HD and In addition to versions with Intel Kaby Lake chips, HP also releases versions with AMD A9, A12 and FX processors. The Nvidia 940MX GPU is optional.   • The HP Envy x360 15″ will be available in July from €1299 with Intel processor and from €899 with AMD processor.
