Google has stopped supporting the Eclipse plug-in for developing Android software. From now on, the search giant will only support development in the self-made Android Studio, of which version 2.2 has just been released.

Apps created in Eclipse will continue to work, but developers will no longer be able to work with new Android features in Eclipse, Google says. According to the company, it’s easy for developers to switch by installing Studio and then importing existing projects.

The plugin for Eclipse is as old as the operating system itself. When the SDK was released in November 2007, Google immediately released the Eclipse plug-in. Eclipse is an idea that a foundation with companies as members develops and releases. Eclipse will continue to exist and the plugin will continue to function without support. The American company first released Android Studio in 2014 and will release version 2.2 on Thursday. It includes support for C++.
