Google has added a tool to Google Earth that allows users on Android and Internet browser Chrome to precisely measure the distance between two points on the Earth. The surface of a specific area can also be mapped.

With the new tool, users can accurately visualize the distance between two points on the earth. This is not only possible on a large scale, for example the distance between Timbuktu and Tokyo, but also measuring the surface of a park or the size of a football stadium is possible.

Currently, the new Google Earth tool is only available to users on Google Chrome and Android. Google reports on its own blog that the tool for measuring distances will soon also be available for iOS.
