Google Docs now shows word count while writing

Spread the love

Google Docs now shows a word count while typing text. The feature is now available to all users. The word count is displayed directly in the corner of the screen.

Until now, users had to navigate specifically to a word counter tucked away in the Google Docs menu. Now the number of words being written will appear in the lower left corner of the screen by default. The word count is updated automatically. The function is on by default.

If users want to see more information about their text, such as the number of characters or the number of pages, this can still be found via Tools > Word count > Display. They can also disable the automatic word counter in the word processor. Google will roll out the feature to users in the next two weeks.
