Fujifilm has released a Windows app called Fujifilm X Webcam. This allows users of a number of system cameras from the X and GFX series to use their devices relatively easily as webcams.

Fujifilm says the now downloadable Fujifilm X Webcam is only available for Windows 10 computers. Users can install the software and connect their camera to their computer via a USB connection, after which the camera should be available as a webcam for video conferencing. The Film Simulation modes of Fujifilm cameras are then also available.

So Fujifilm X Webcam is only available for Windows users and only the following cameras are supported: GFX100, GFX 50S, GFX 50R, X-H1, X-Pro2, X-Pro3, X-T2, X-T3, X-T4 . The first three devices are medium format cameras and the others have aps-c sensors.

Partly due to the corona crisis and the many working from home, the demand for webcams has increased significantly in recent times. Camera manufacturers are now responding to this by, among other things, releasing this type of software. Canon also recently came up with similar software for its cameras.

Many cameras can also be used as webcams in a more indirect way. It is then necessary to configure the USB connection as a remote control. To get a live view of the camera on the computer, there are several options per manufacturer, such as the Imaging Edge software for Sony, qDslrDashboard for Nikon owners and EOS Utility for Canon cameras. Then it is necessary to capture the image via software, such as OBS, so that a webcam is simulated.
