The latest nightly of Mozilla’s mobile browser Firefox for Android includes built-in support for Google’s Chromecast hdmi stick. This allows the user to stream a web page to a television.

Google’s Chrome browser has been offering the option of showing web pages on a television on both the desktop and Android for some time by sending them to the Chromecast. Through his Google+ feed, Mozilla ui engineer Lucas Rocha informs us that the latest test build of Firefox for Android now includes this capability. In time, this option will be included in the normal Firefox mobile releases. Then most of the bugs must have been removed from the Mozilla implementation of Chromecast.

In June it was announced that Mozilla seems to be working on a competitor for the Chromecast. The dongle is said to be primarily intended for use with Firefox OS, Mozilla’s mobile operating system, but at the same time be compatible with other mobile operating systems. Whether and when this ‘Mozilla stick’ will be available is still unclear.
