Bose and Beats settle noise cancellation lawsuit

Bose and Beats have reached a settlement in the lawsuit that the two parties were involved in over noise-canceling headphones. The two companies have asked the judge to drop the case, but have not released any further details.

Bloomberg reports this on the basis of documents submitted to the court in the US state of Delaware. The site states that Bose and Beats have reached an agreement out of court, which they believe could end the lawsuit. No further details have been released about the settlement, but it is likely that Beats will pay a sum of money to Bose.

Bose sued Beats in July for using noise canceling technology in its headphones. This involved the Beats Studio and Beats Studio Wireless, according to Bose. Both products allegedly infringed on the audio company’s patents. The court asked for a sales ban, which is common in patent cases.

Beats was recently acquired by Apple for $3 billion. It is unclear whether the new parent company had any stake in the settlement reached with Bose.
