Open World Action RPG Biomutant runs in 4k resolution at 60fps on Xbox Series X and 1080p at 60fps on PlayStation 5. According to the developer, the PS5 version is currently not stable at 60fps. The game will receive a next-gen upgrade upon release.

Publisher THQ Nordic has explained all the details about the different versions of Biomutant in a faq. A gameplay video is also available from all versions on the different platforms. For example, it can now be seen that the PlayStation 5 version runs in 1080p, scaled up to 4k. The Xbox Series X version runs in native 4k resolution at 60fps, the developer said.

According to the publisher, the 4k60fps option is disabled with the PlayStation 5 version for ‘technical reasons’. There may be an update later that allows the higher resolution. There is no optimized version available for the new consoles at release. The game runs on the Xbox Series consoles and the PlayStation 5 in a compatibility mode.

For the time being, the Series X only benefits from a high resolution in combination with a frame rate of 60fps and therefore has no other improvements. Somewhere in the ‘near-ish future’ there will be a version of the game made specifically for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. It is not yet known what improvements it will receive.

Post Apocalyptic Kung Fu Fable RPG

The creators describe Biomutant as a post-apocalyptic kung fu fable RPG. The colorful fantasy world is full of mutated animals and combat consists of a mix of fighting skills, shooting and special mutant abilities. Recently the makers published the trailer below explaining the game.

Biomutant was announced in 2017 by Swedish developer Experiment 101. The studio is made up of former Avalanche employees who worked on Just Cause. It was quiet around the game for a number of years, but at the beginning of this year it was announced that the game will be released on May 25 for a suggested retail price of 60 euros.
