Asus announces the ZenWiFi AX Mini and the ZenWiFi AC Mini. These are two compact mesh routers for WiFi 6 and WiFi 5 respectively, which the company supplies in bundles with a router and two access points.
The ZenWiFi AX Mini is, as the name implies, a router with support for 802.11ax, or Wi-Fi 6. The router includes integrated antennas and a mu-mimo configuration of 2×2 for 2.4GHz and 2×2 for 5GHz. The maximum data throughput for 5GHz connections is 1201Mbit/s, while 2.4GHz maximizes at 574Mbit/s. The router has a quad-core soc and 256MB flash storage and 256MB ram. The router has Gigabit Ethernet ports for LAN and WAN, and the ZenWiFi AX Mini’s satellite also has a Gigabit LAN port. The dimensions are 8x9x9cm.
ZenWiFi AC Mini is slimmer at 14x7x7cm, but also a lot higher. This router has four integrated antennas and a 4×4 mimo configuration for 2.4GHz and 2×2 for 5GHz. There are also more gigabit Ethernet ports: one for WAN and three for LAN at the router, and two for the access point. On the other hand, this system has to make do with a single core soc and 32MB flash and 128MB ram. Asus reports maximum speeds of 867Mbit/s for 5GHz and 600Mbit/s for 2.4GHz connections for the AC Mini.
The ZenWiFi AX Mini comes in white and black, the AC Mini only in white. Asus does not announce recommended retail prices yet.
