Apple has temporarily stopped shipping the LG UltraFine 5K Display to resolve technical issues with the monitor. The monitor suffers from several problems, which seem to occur mainly when it is near a router.

A BusinessInsider editor contacted an Apple employee who confirmed that monitor deliveries have been suspended due to a hardware problem. The monitors are still displayed in Apple Stores, but staff are said to have been instructed not to sell the monitors. Apple’s online store states that the estimated delivery time is five to six weeks.

The LG UltraFine 5K Display has been in the news for some time, because the monitor is said to suffer from all kinds of problems. The most notable problem is that it seems to work less well when placed near a Wi-Fi antenna, such as the one in a wireless router.

LG has indicated that it has found a solution to the problem by building in better protection against electronic interference. Presumably, sales of the monitors will pick up again when the new ones are available.

The LG UltraFine 5K display is for sale on the Apple website for 1049 euros. However, this is a limited time offer; from March 31, the price will be increased to 1399 euros. There is also a 21.5-inch 4k variant available that seems to have fewer issues. This variant has a temporary price of 561 euros and will cost 749 euros from March 31. It has a delivery time of one to two weeks.
