Android users can send WhatsApp messages via voice control Google Now

Users can send messages via Google Now with WhatsApp, for example, by means of voice commands, as was previously possible with a text message or an e-mail. In addition to WhatsApp, there is now support for Viber, Telegram, WeChat and Nextplus.

The user does not have to open the app to send a WhatsApp message, says Google on its own Search Blog. Users can give their Android device a voice command by starting with “Ok Google,” followed by a command like “Send a WhatsApp message to Remy saying good morning.” Google will recognize the recipient, the app and the message and send the message from the app.

For the time being, there is only support for these assignments in English. However, that doesn’t mean the functionality only works in English-speaking areas. Anyone who understands Google Voice Search in English can use these commands, if all the applications involved are up to date. Google is working to extend this functionality to other applications and languages, but has no indication of when this will happen.
