Analyst: Apple will release new iPhone SE with 5G in April or May
Apple may release its next iPhone SE phone in April or May. Ross Young of the analyst firm Display Supply Chain Consultants reports this. The phone would be called the iPhone SE+ 5G and again get a 4.7″ LCD.
Ross Young reports on Twitter that Apple will probably release the new iPhone SE in the second half of April or early May. The analyst writes that the production of screens for the new smartphone will start this month. The phone itself would be in production from March, with deliveries to follow the following month, Young said.
This release period is consistent with previous posts. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, who is known for his good resources within Apple, reported earlier this week on Twitter that Apple will announce a new iPhone SE with 5G in the spring at an Apple event. The two previous iPhone SE models both also came out in the spring; the first iPhone SE appeared in March 2016 and the current model became available in April 2020.
Rumors about a new iPhone SE have been circulating for some time now. It would be similar in design to the current model from 2020, but have a newer soc and 5G support. Ross Young reported earlier this week that the phone may be available under the iPhone SE+ 5G name. However, despite the ‘+’ in the name, the phone wouldn’t get a bigger screen. A 4.7″ LCD is expected instead. A larger iPhone SE with 5.7″ screen may follow next year, Young reported at the same time.
