The number of customers for Adobe’s Creative Cloud subscription service increased by 833,000 in the fourth quarter, 150,000 more than analysts had expected. The growth would be due to consumers and hobbyists. Lightroom in particular would be popular.

In addition to professional users, Adobe also manages to attract many new customers. These include consumers, hobbyists and people who “would never go for these types of products before,” Adobe CFO Mark Garrett told Yahoo News in an interview.

According to Garret, 52 percent of customers opt for the most comprehensive Creative Cloud subscription, which costs $60.49 per month. This subscription includes all Adobe programs, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Dreamweaver. Other customers would go for individual products, Lightroom being the most popular. Probably many photographers opt for the Creative Cloud photography package, which consists of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom and costs 12.09 euros per month. The app version of Lightroom has recently become free for Android and iOS.

With the influx of new users, Adobe also sees a steady growth in profits as the transition to the online revenue model is almost complete, according to analyst Samad Samana. As a result, costs play a smaller role. The turnover from digital media amounts to 875.3 million dollars, which is about 800 million euros converted. This is a significant percentage of Adobe’s total turnover, which amounts to 1.19 billion euros.
