Zotac has revealed the R series of Zbox mini PCs. The main feature over previous small desktop systems is that they can accommodate two 2.5″ storage media for raid 0 or raid 1 configurations.

The first models in the R-series are the Zbox RI531 and Zbox RI323 , with a Core i3-5010U dual-core clocked at 2.1GHz and a Celeron 2961Y dual-core clocked at 1.1GHz, respectively. The Core i3 has an HD Graphics 5500 GPU, the Celeron has to make do with an HD Graphics video chip. Furthermore, the difference between the RI531 and the RI323 is that the former offers space for an msata-ssd.

Both systems can accommodate two 2.5″ storage media, such as two HDDs or SSDs. In addition, there are two slots for DDR3 memory and the systems contain 3-in-1 memory card readers. HDMI 1.4a and displayport 1.2 are also present, and can be connected via two gigabit ethernet ports, bluetooth 4.0 and wifi ac.

Zotac will release a Plus version of the Zbox RI531 with 4GB DDR3 and an MSATA SSD with a storage capacity of 64GB. For the other systems, the user has to add this himself. It is unknown when the Zbox R-series will be available.
