Xiaomi releases its first gaming laptop

Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has announced a laptop aimed at gamers. The company comes with models with a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and GTX 1060. The laptops have colored backlighting for the keyboard.

With the new Mi Gaming Laptop range, Xiaomi is expanding into the laptop market, where it has so far released thin models in the Mi Notebook Pro and Mi Notebook Air series. In the Mi Gaming series appear models with a 15.6 “screen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.

There will be four models, of which the most extensive variant combines an Intel Core i7-7700HQ with 16GB DDR4, a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. This version contains a GeForce GTX 1060 and the price has been converted and with VAT 1398 euros. The cheapest version has a Core i5-7400HQ, GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, 8GB DDR4, 128GB SSD and 1TB HDD. The converted price is 931 euros, including VAT. Xiaomi keeps the laptop cool with two fans with four heat pipes. The heat is dissipated on the sides and back.

The laptop is 20.9 mm thick and weighs 2.7 kilograms. The keyboard has an RGB backlight with six programmable keys on the left. There are two LED strips on either side at the bottom that can illuminate the surface on which the laptop rests.

As far as interfaces are concerned, USB-C, USB 3.0, HDMI 2.0 and a gigabit Ethernet connection are available on the back. On the left are two more USB 3.0 ports and the audio input and output. On the right is a fourth USB 3.0 port and a three-in-one card reader.
