Xiaomi will release its Black Shark 4 smartphone on May 6 for a price starting at 499 euros. The device is aimed at gaming and has, among other things, physical shoulder buttons. The Pro variant announced in China is not yet available on the international market.
The cheapest version of the Black Shark 4 has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of flash storage. There will also be a version of 599 euros; that version gets 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Both versions have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870-soc and a 6.7-inch OLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate.
Xiaomi announced the Black Shark 4 for the Chinese market in March, along with a 4 Pro version with Snapdragon 888. There is no mention of a release of the Pro model in other parts of the world.
Cooling Black Shark 4
According to the manufacturer, the phones have special cooling that should keep the soc cool during intensive use. Between the screen and the pcb with the soc is a vapor chamber and between the pcb and the back of the phone is a second layer with a cooling element.
Physical shoulder buttons are hidden in the housing that do not protrude when not in use. With a magnetic mechanism, the shoulder buttons fold out during gaming.
According to Xiaomi, the Black Shark 4 can fast charge with a power of 120W. The 4500mAh battery consists of two parts and would be fully charged in 17 minutes. However, the phone comes with a 67W charger. It takes about 25 minutes to fully charge the battery.
