Windows 10 gets feature to display and reply Android notifications

Microsoft’s Windows 10 Your Phone app is getting the feature to forward notifications from an Android phone. Users can then reply as the phone streams its screen to the desktop.

The feature was already available as a test version for Insiders, but should be available to all Windows 10 users with an Android phone in the coming week, Thurrott reports. The notifications come through via a link between the Your Phone app on the PC and an Android app.

The PC can then pass on notifications from the Android phone to the PC, which shows them as regular notifications at the bottom of the screen. Microsoft is also working on the ‘notification chasing’ function, according to Thurrott. In addition, a user could see the screen of his phone after clicking on the notification. In that screen it is possible to reply to the message. The phone streams the image to the PC. The function is not yet available.

Microsoft previously experimented with displaying notifications from Android phones in Windows 10. That was done via digital assistant Cortana. The test with the current app started in April.
