Roblox, the popular online game among young children in which other games can be designed to play with other users, has been offline for some time. The outage started sometime late on Thursday and is still unresolved at the time of writing.
Roblox reports that the issues have been happening since Thursday, but doesn’t report what’s behind it. the company itself would be aware of the cause and would work on the solution, but it is still not there. Due to the outage, both the game and the company’s website are inaccessible.
Roblox is available on Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and the Xbox One and has more than 40 million daily active players, according to Statistia. Two years ago, the game surpassed even Minecraft with its player numbers. The game is free to play. Roblox allows players to create other games within the game, using a dialect of the Lua programming language called Roblox Lua.
The game makes money using the in-game currency Robux. With this, players buy accessories for their character and that digital money can be used to advertise their Roblox games to other Roblox players. Creators are allowed to keep a portion of the Robux proceeds from trades in their game and, if they earn enough, can also convert their earned Robux back into real money. The platform offers many millions of games, almost all made by users.
