Twilio is laying off around 5 percent of its workforce

Cloud communications company Twilio is once again laying off part of its staff. This time it concerns approximately 5 percent of the total workforce, which amounts to just under 300 people. At the beginning of this year, a large part of the staff was also dismissed.

The restructuring Twilio reportedly costs between $25 and $35 million, reports Reuters. Earlier this year, the company already cut 17 percent of jobs and hundreds of employees also left in the last quarter of 2022. The company reportedly had 7,800 employees just over a year ago. Now there are around 5,900, it appears recent quarterly figures. After the upcoming round of layoffs, there would be approximately 5,600 employees left.

Twilio has been active since 2008. The company specializes in cloud communications services, such as Authy, an app for two-factor authentication. Twilio isn’t the only tech company in the process of layoffs. Music streaming giant Spotify will also lay off 17 percent of its staff, which amounts to approximately 1,500 employees. Unity and Broadcom also recently announced layoffs.
