Tuxedo Computers has released a Linux support package for Intel’s QC7 gaming laptop. The company makes all the software and necessary drivers available to put its own Tuxedo_OS on the TongFang barebone.
The software package is available for the QC7 laptop. It is sold by different manufacturers under different names, such as XMG Fusion 15, Eluktronics Mag-15 and Aftershock Vapor 15. The QC7 is a TongFang laptop with an Intel-soc that is mainly intended for gamers. On the laptop it is possible to run Linux with the software from Tuxedo.
Tuxedo makes its own operating system Tuxedo_OS available on the laptop. That’s Ubuntu 20.04 with its own shell over it. With the software package it is also possible to install Ubuntu yourself or other distros, such as Kubuntu, Xubuntu and Mint. After the installation, users must install several packages themselves, including tuxedo-keyboard and Tuxedo Control Center. With those drivers, users can get full keyboard support for hot keys and can switch between the integrated Intel GPU and the separate Nvidia GPU. The Control Center software allows you to set preferred profiles for configurations.
The company is also going to sell an XMG Fusion 15 itself with Tuxedo_OS on it. It runs on an Intel Core i7-9750H and has an RTX 2070 Max-Q GPU from Nvidia on board. The battery is 93Wh and the laptop has an optomechanical keyboard. Several configurations are available with more ram and storage. The cheapest configuration of the laptop starts at 1349 euros.
