Synology has released the DiskStation DS112+, a NAS that can accommodate one hard drive. The DS112+ is equipped with a 2GHz processor and two USB 3.0 connections, and could achieve read speeds of up to 107MBps.

According to Synology, the NAS contains 512MB DDR3 RAM in addition to the unspecified 2GHz processor. The housing of the DS112+ can accommodate a 3.5″ drive of up to 4TB, although a 2.5″ hard drive can also be used with an optional drive holder.

The NAS is equipped with two USB 3.0 connections and an ESATA interface, as well as a Gigabit Ethernet connection. The 0.72kg DS112+ is said to achieve read and write speeds of 107MBps and 76MBps respectively in Windows environments, according to Synology. Furthermore, the manufacturer claims that the NAS with a noise level of 18.4 dB is reasonably quiet due to a slow-rotating 60 mm fan. The power consumption would be 6.3W in idle mode and 14.6W with a running hard disk.

Synology ships the DS112+ with DiskStation Manager 4.0, the latest version of its firmware. The suggested retail price for the NAS is 180 euros excluding VAT without the included hard drive.
