Switch owners have been struggling with downloads not working for more than a week

For over a week now, Nintendo Switch users have been having issues downloading games and game updates for their Switch. Also, ownership of dlc is sometimes not recognized. They get an error code, but no further explanation as to what is going on.
Nintendo has only responded to the issue in the form of a customer service page for error code 2123-1502 . They talk about a ‘temporary network problem’ and suggest ‘possible solutions’, such as trying again, restarting the console and manually setting a different DNS. If that doesn’t help, Nintendo recommends simply “waiting and trying again later.” The problem occurs since firmware version 12.0.3.
It is not entirely clear how widespread the problem is. However, a recent thread on Reddit garnered 306 responses in about 24 hours, many of which read “I have this problem too.” They also report that the proposed solutions work in some cases, but often not, or only temporarily.
Eurogamer has a week ago contacted Nintendo about the problem, but has received no response. Furthermore, they write that the company’s customer service is reportedly telling users that a firmware update that fixes the problem is on the way.
