Sony would encourage and push game developers as much as possible to develop games for the PlayStation 4 that can render around 60 frames per second at 1080p resolution, according to a game developer.

In a interview with Eurogamer on the occasion of the introduction of the Xbox One, developer Stewart Gilray, who is working on an as-yet unknown PS4 title for Just Add Water, speaks. According to Gilray, the PS4 will offer smoother gameplay at higher resolutions. In addition, Sony would encourage and help developers as much as possible to run games at 1080p resolutions at 60fps smoothly. This could have the consequence that in certain cases the graphics would lag slightly behind on the Xbox One, or one should choose to temporarily use 30fps.

Gilray further states that a game that demands the utmost from the hardware of the PlayStation 4, the developer will probably have to tweak the code for the Xbox One. If an Xbox One title scores an average of 60fps, then the game should also be able to achieve this refresh rate on the PS4 without any problems. According to the developer, the 8GB gddr5 ram in the PS4 is probably the cause; the Xbox One is equipped with slower 8GB DDR3 RAM.
