Sonos will start offering products in a new market next year, the company said during the presentation of its quarterly figures. This may involve headphones, which have been rumored for years.
Sonos headphones in patent application
The first product will be released between the end of March and the end of September next year, says Sonos. That is before the end of the company’s financial year. Sonos does not explicitly say what product category it concerns, but in any case it is an industry worth billions of euros per year.
Last year Sonos acquired T2, a company that worked on headphones. There have been rumors about Sonos headphones for years. There was one in 2020 Sonos headphones on display in a company patent application.
CEO Patrick Spence says Sonos has been working on the upcoming product series for years. It is clear that the manufacturer does not want to reveal anything about what exactly it will do. Until now, Sonos only made speakers and other audio products for the home. How headphones would work in the Sonos ecosystem is also unknown.
