Solowheel Demonstration Shows Simple Segway

The company Inventist, which praises itself for its ‘crazy ideas’, has demonstrated its Solowheel at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The electric vehicle can be seen as a simple Segway.

The solo wheel looks like nothing more than a wheel clamped between the legs. Two folding footrests and a padded support to press the lower legs against are the only elements of interaction with the Solowheel. The device has a single wheel driven by an electric motor and equipped with a gyroscope. As with the Segway, it is necessary to lean to start the device and to steer.

The battery in the Solowheel would be powerful enough to cover fifteen to twenty miles, about twenty five to thirty kilometers. A system to recover energy during use should contribute to this. The Solowheel is self-balancing and has a handle for carrying. The device weighs just under twenty kilograms.

The Solowheel is for sale directly from developer Inventist for $ 1795. The device is not completely new, by the way. The company has already designed multiple versions of the device. It is unknown what is different about the model shown this year, other than that the maximum distance that can be traveled has been increased.
