Xfire released version 1.97 of its chat program of the same name last Tuesday. The program is mainly intended for avid gamers. With Xfire it is possible to chat via text and speech both inside and outside games. Furthermore, statistics are kept of the performance in various games, it is possible to see which games the people from your contact list are currently playing and game patches and demos can be downloaded via your own p2p network. More than 1250 games are currently supported, 191 of which are the so-called ‘one click join‘ and over 800 ‘in game chat‘ support. In this release, the chat rooms have mainly been overhauled. - Major revamp in progress for Chat Rooms.
- Room names must be ascii strings
- Rooms can be joined by name
- Rooms can be password protected, but you can invite a friend without telling him/her the password
- Note: all previously saved chat rooms have been cleared because of these changes. We do not expect to need to clear saved rooms again.
- Reorganized Tools | Options | Video dialog.
- Fixed display of remote videos and chat rooms when logging off and back on to Xfire as a different user.
- Fixed problem with some Call of Duty 4 servers not showing up in All Servers.
- Added game server info to Frontlines: Fuel of War.
- Fixed a few bugs with video capture and flashback enabled.
- Broadcasting *alpha* now supports video resolution changes without ending the broadcast.
- When starting a broadcast, you are placed in a chat room to discuss the broadcast.
