Xfire released version 1.96 of its eponymous chat program yesterday. The program is mainly intended for avid gamers. With Xfire it is possible to chat via text and voice both inside and outside games. Furthermore, statistics are kept of the performance in different games, you can see which games the people from your contact list are playing at that moment and game patches and demos can be downloaded via the own p2p network. At the moment more than 1250 games are supported, of which 191 are the so-called ‘one click join‘ and over 800 ‘in game chat‘ to support. The changelog for this release shows the following changes:

  • Fixed the typing notification message in Shadow skin chat windows so that they are fully visible.
  • Fixed several video capture bugs with larger videos.
  • Fixed several UI inconsistencies with the mute button.
  • Fixed encoding issues with non-ASCII characters when editing screenshot and video descriptions.
