Xfire is aimed at avid gamers and allows them to chat with others both within and outside of various games. One can easily see in which game the people on the contact list are playing and then simply add themselves to that game. Xfire can also help you find a fast game server with still free seats, game patches and demos can be downloaded via your own P2P network and voice chat is available. At the moment, more than 550 games are supported, of which there are several one click join and “in game chat” support. The developers have released version 1.65 with the following list of changes:

- Added the ability for Xfire to automatically (and safely) reconnect while you are playing a game.
- Added lime green and monochrome themes to the default Xfire skin.
- Added friend joining Battlefield 2142.
- Added proper team names for Battlefield 2142.
- Fixed voice chats to work well for listeners who don’t have microphones.
- Fixed creation of chat windows on Vista to not always be in the top left of the screen.
- Made significant enhancements to the game statistics pages for Quake 3 and Jedi Academy.

- Fixed several web site and Xfire application problems when viewed with Internet Explorer 7.
- Deleting your nickname while online will now instantly update your miniprofile.
- Fixed support for Magic Online, Everquest, Rose Online, WarRock, Hero Online, Sprint Cars, and Lineage II.
- New games supported: Gothic III, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07, El Matador, Paraworld, Frets on Fire, Defcon, Championship Manager 2006, Age of Empires III – The WarChiefs, Microsoft Flight Simulator X, BZFlag, The Sims 2 Pets, Sid Meier’s Railroads, The Guild 2, Neocron 2, Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition, Space Empires IV Deluxe, Space Empires V, Shot Online, Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption, Phantasy Star Universe Online, Dark Messiah Multiplayer, Dark Messiah Single Player , FEAR Extraction Point, Stronghold Legends, Perimeter, and Perimeter Emperor’s Testament.
Technical Notes for Release 1.65:
- We added some headers on the web site to enhance search engine parsing of our pages (meta descriptions and meta keywords, in particular).
- Added MatchExe lines to the xfire_games.ini to match game executables using regular expressions (see Magic Online).
