Software Update: WSUS Offline Update 6.2

The German computer magazine c’t has released a program called Offline Update tool for a long time. With that program it was possible to provide Windows computers that do not have an internet connection with the latest updates from Microsoft. The program itself was developed by one Torsten Wittrock and he recently released it in his own name. The name has been renamed WSUS Offline Update for this reason and is now offered open source.

In WSUS Offline Update, you can choose from one or more languages ​​in a clear interface for Windows 2000 and higher and Office 2000 and higher. The program then retrieves all updates from Microsoft’s ftp server and then makes an ISO file of the whole per language or per operating system. • Office updates up to 10/2009 integrated by static definitions

• Update for Root Certificates (rootsupd.exe/kb931125) updated to September 2009
• Fix: Linux scripts contained invalid Windows (CRLF) instead of Unix (LF) line feeds
• Fix: IE8 installation files were called with invalid /nobackup switch
• Fix: Download exclude lists for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 (x86/x64) updated to avoid *-js56-x86* files
• Fix: DownloadUpdates.sh script didn’t work under Slackware because of missing dos2unix tool
• Fix: DetermineSystemProperties.vbs script set invalid environment variable %PSH_INSTALLED_MAJOR% instead of %PSH_INSTALLED%
• Fix: CopyToTarget.cmd script contained invalid usage instructions
• Fix: Download exclude list for Windows XP modified since Offline Update missed patch IE7-WindowsXP-KB938127-v2-x86-DEU.exe
