Software Update: WinZip 11.0 beta

Spread the love

Corel, which now owns WinZip, has released a beta release of version 11.0 of the archive utility. WinZip used to be a popular program on the PC, but with the built-in zip support in the newer versions of Windows and competition from programs like WinRAR and 7-Zip, its popularity has been waning for a while now. Since version 10.0 there are two different versions; a standard and a pro version. The first costs thirty dollars, the second costs fifty dollars, with an upgrade from version 10.0 costing half. The differences between the two become apparent this page clearly revealed. Below are the most important innovations from version 11.0:

Compression Enhancements

  • Allow WinZip to Select “Best Compression” Automatically
  • Zip .wav Music Files
  • .BZ2 and .RAR File Support (Extract Only)

WinZip Job Wizard Enhancements – PRO ONLY

  • Program the Job Wizard to Email Reports and Zip Files Automatically
  • Use Browse Button to Find FTP Location
  • Passive (PASV) FTP Support
  • Select Custom Jobs from Quick Pick and Job Wizard Menus

Basic Image Navigation Support

  • View Full-Size Images with WinZip’s New Image Viewer – PRO ONLY

Other Changes in WinZip 11.0
