Software Update: Sysinternals Suite 2008-08-22

Today a new version of the Sysinternals Suite has been released. This package is a collection of useful utilities that can be used, among other things, to manage systems, obtain extensive information about the computer or for troubleshooting and diagnosis. They were written by Mark Russinovich and Bryce Cogswell, initially for Sysinternals and now for Microsoft. Some examples are Process ExplorerBgInfocontig and disk mon† In total it concerns a collection of no less than 63 different utilities† Here’s what’s changed in this edition:

New Tool:

  • Desktops v1.0: This new utility enables you to create up to four virtual desktops and to use a tray interface or hotkeys to preview what’s on each desktop and easily switch between them.

Updated:

  • Autoruns v9.33: This Autoruns update adds command-line options for automatically scanning and exporting scan results, as well as a number of bug fixes.
