Download Smokeping 2.4.2
You can use a simple ping command to monitor the presence of various components in the network. However, you can only view the current status and the output is text-based. An application that keeps a history of availability and can then display this graphically is Smokeping. This application requires a web server with Perl, Rrdtool and some other components. This allows an overview to be set up as on this page can be viewed. The developers have released version 2.4.2 with the following announcement:
Version 2.4.2:
I have published Smoking 2.4.2. It’s bug fixes only:
- one stain check error removed
- :sys_wait_h dependency removed
Version 2.4.1:
When packaging 2.4.0 I messed up … the SmokeTrace javascript got damaged in the process. I have released 2.4.1 which contains a working SmokeTrace javascript.
Version 2.4.0:
The main new feature of this release is that provides an Ajax interface to traceroute that lets you trace the network path to any host as seen from your master server.[break]
