Software Update: SIW 2009-05-12

Spread the love

Gabriel Topala released a new version of SIW on Tuesday. SIW is short for System Information for Windows, and that’s exactly what the program does: provide comprehensive information about a Windows PC. The program does this not only about the hardware present in the PC, but also about the software, the network and the running processes and services. SIW is less than one and a half megabytes in size and does not need to be installed to do its job. In addition to the free version for home use, there are also commercial versions available, which in addition to an LCD monitor test also extra options with reports. Since the beginning of this year, the maker has abandoned the use of version numbers and now simply gives the program the date of release, in this case 2009-05-12. The changelog of the new release shows the following changes:

Changes in SIW 2009-05-12:

  • Improved “Battery” module.
  • Improved “Installed Programs” module.
  • Fixed XML Report.
  • Support for NVIDIA ION platform.
  • Intel “Clarkdale” processor preliminary support.
  • Preliminary support of Apple MacBook & MacBook Pro.
