For some people, a display is something that has to give light in a shape that roughly resembles something desired. For others, the slightest gamma drift can result in hours of fiddling with drivers and settings. To make the lives of people in the second category a little easier, software developer EnTech invented PowerStrip. The program gives you the opportunity to tweak anything and everything about your video card, without much hassle, even as the lucky owner of a multihead system. Keyboard shortcuts also give you the option to adjust the light settings during gaming, for example, so that the darkest hallway becomes a brightly lit gallery. Those who find even that too much hassle can have the software detect when a certain program is started and optimize the settings for it.

Yesterday PowerStrip added a new version number to its long history: 3.50 beta. The most important feature of the release is support for 64-bit variants of Windows XP, so that Opteron and Athlon64 owners can also get their money’s worth again. Of course, the software also works on all Win32 variants:

A PowerStrip 3.50 beta has been released, with support for over 100 graphics controllers under 64-bit Editions of Windows. This release is backwardly compatible with all Win32 operating systems, and additionally features updated support for a variety of new drivers and chipsets such as the XGI Volari.
