Software Update: Openoffice.org 3.0 beta 1

The first beta release of OpenOffice.org 3.0 was released on Monday. This open source office package comes with a word processor (Writer), a spreadsheet program (Calc), a presentation program (Impress), a drawing program (Draw) and a database program (Base). New in version 3.0 is, among other things, the start center and that the Mac OS X version no longer needs X11, but behaves like any other Aqua application. Furthermore, it can now handle version 1.2 of the Opendocument Format and documents created with Microsoft Office 2007. In Calc, the possibilities with regard to graphs have also been improved and the number of columns has been expanded from 256 to 1024. Below you will find an overview of the main changes:
