On the Microsoft Software Forum Network version 0.92 beta of nLite has been released. With this program it is possible to modify the Windows XP installation CD. It can slipstream service packs, clean the CD by removing components, and finally turn it back into a self-starting ISO. The nLite changelog shows the following changes:

0.92 beta:

  • new component: BITS service
  • new component: WEB Folders
  • fixed firewall.cpl issue
  • new option: Higher Compression of driver.cab

9.1 beta:

  • more presets
  • fixed cursor bug
  • made sfc disabling optional
  • some gui updates
  • beginnings of profiles

0.90 beta:

  • updated inf parser, some extra driver files found
  • new component: Music Sample
  • new component: Drivers
  • SCSI (thanx jdeboeck for tips)
  • separated component from IIS: Experimental
  • Message Queuing
  • separated mouse cursors from images
  • cleaned some removed services reg leftovers
  • changed driver recompression routine a little bit (thanx GreenMachine for the tip)
  • fix for missing indeo files even this was not my fault [break] nLite is written in C#. To work with it, Microsoft’s .Net framework must be installed.
