Download NewsLeecher 2.1 beta 3

NewsLeecher is a program for reading newsgroup messages and downloading binaries via Usenet. The developers took a good look at programs like NewsBinPro, NewsPro, BNR, and GrabIt, then took the best points as the basis for NewsLeecher. The result is a program that, among other things, can download from multiple servers at the same time, has support for yEnc encoding and can handle up to 99 threads simultaneously. Today the developers of NewsLeecher put a new beta version online. This time the credit has gone to beta 3 of the 2.1 branch, which will be released from this location can be downloaded as setup. What changes and features have been implemented in this new release can be read below:

2.1 Beta 3

• New license key system. The new system has been simplified and will hopefully cause less confusion.
• Added possibility to show/hide the NewsLeecher Page Sheets.
• Added detection for outdated NewsLeecher data files. User is asked if they should be deleted.
• Added SOCKS support for the Super Search feature.
• Redesigned About Box to include various license data.
• Visually redesigned the Group Manager.
• Merged “Audio” and “Other” Super Search categories.
• The ‘reset group’ feature will now delete the stored group cache files *without* starting a new group update.
• Changed License Agreement to include info on registered mode and Super Search usage.
• Removed a bunch of superfluous graphical elements. NewsLeecher should run smoother now.
• Lots of small visual improvements.
• Fixed bug introduced in v2.1 beta 1 where NewsLeecher didn’t work under Windows 9x.
• Minor bug fixes.
