Download NewsBin Pro 6.01 Build 1126 Beta 1

The first beta release of NewsBin Pro version 6.01 has been released. NewsBin Pro is intended to retrieve files such as photos, movies and programs from usenet. These files can be downloaded in individual packets from one or more news servers and reassembled at the receiving end. Since version 6.00, the user interface uses tabs and there is a Cache to Memory option that, if a machine has plenty of memory, reduces constant access to the hard drive. Version 6.01 mainly contains bug fixes and minor improvements. The changelog for the first beta looks like this:

Changes in version 6.01 Beta 1 Build 1126:

• Fixed issue where new posts don’t always show up.
• Addressing issue some people have reported with Autodownload. When it doesn’t work, it looks like the filters are filtering them out. Now allows you to disable the local profile. Also removed parent properties inheritance for groups in a group folder.
• During header download, using header download filters, the poster lockouts will apply as well as normal filters.
• Fixed issue where header downloads weren’t retrying on error.
• Now renames the file when you Ctrl-R to prevent over-writes.
• Fixed issue where it was possible to set “Hide Old” in iSearch and there’s no way to know it’s set.
• When adding sets to download, now always sorts the par files above the rest of the files.
• Now displays the speed when you dwell over the taskbar icon.
• View menu now reflects the open status of the windows. Icon has a box around it if the tab is open.
• Now prevents auto-assemble when files have no valid chunks. This prevents autoassembly in the presence of a dead or dying server.
• Found a case where bad RARS can crash the encryption checker giving a FileIOThread Crash error. Might still be true
• Fixed issue where if a mastersplitter set has a small 000 part, it messes up the combine sometimes
• Added some debug messages for Automode download to try to track down a problem turning automode on reported by some people
• Fixed issue where subsearch doesn’t clear when you get below a single character
• When selecting a tab, focus should now go to the list control
• When compacting NZB’s, it was showing the pars and not the rars as the main item
• Added speed and time remaining back to icon caption.
• Load drop down in the post list tab goes back 4 years now.
• Removed some record loading logging.
• Now only displays the MOTD if there is something new. Unregistered shows the MOTD all the time.
• Now adds files that fail due to duplicate detection to the downloaded DB
• Fixed the Ctrl-G shortcut to perform a header update.
• Switched to using OpenSSL MD5 instead of inter Parlib MD5 – almost 3 times faster
• Switch downloading from using 2 buffers to one. When doing article, read the whole article into a buffer then chop into lines.
• XTM files should be 100% compact.
• No longer marks Ctrl-R files as old or downloaded.
• New TCP commands for the remote control interface. Documentation in the forums.
