Software update: Mactracker 4.1

The folks behind Mactracker recently released version 4.1 posted online. The update can here downloaded for Mac OS X and takes up roughly 18.49 megabytes. Mactracker displays detailed information from a Mac computer. For example, data from the processor, working memory and various other components are displayed. That information is extracted from the supplied database, which contains data from practically all hardware that Apple has made. The new Mactracker not only recognizes the new MacBooks, MacBook Pros and iMacs, but can also identify the second generation of the iPod nano. A number of changes have also been made under the hood. For example, Mactracker is now also compiled as a universal binary and the necessary bugs have been removed from the program. Below you can read which bugs these are exactly:

  • Adds Mac mini (Late 2006)
  • Adds iPod shuffle (2nd Generation), iPod nano (2nd Generation), iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition, iPod 5th Generation (Late 2006), and iPod 5th Generation U2 (Late 2006)
  • MacBook models have been moved into their own category
  • Now compiled as a Universal Binary for native operation on PowerPC and Intel-based Macs
  • Adds “My Mac models” list to “Notes” tab of Mac info windows
  • Adds “My Mac models” category in the main window which shows models with entries in their “My Mac models” list
  • Adds option to show a model’s icon in the main window
  • Adds information on whether a Power Mac G5 model uses a built-in or external AirPort antenna
  • Adds information on the current iPod software version
  • Adds Motion Sensor as separate entry rather than as an addition to Hard Drive entry
  • Adds ability to link to info windows using the “mactracker://” URI scheme
  • Update functionality now respects system proxy settings
  • Fixes an issue where Mactracker would crash if the startup disk was formatted with “Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive)” or “Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled)”
  • Other minor changes and additions
