Software Update: Gnome 2.26.2

Spread the love

The developers of Gnome have released an update for the stable branch with version number 2.26.2. This popular desktop environment for *nix systems does not normally come as a preinstalled installation, but will need to be compiled independently in the correct order or become available with an update to your favorite Linux distribution. The corresponding announcement of this release on the mailing list is as follows:

GNOME 2.26.2 Stable Release

This is the second update to GNOME 2.26. It contains many fixes for important bugs that directly affect our users, documentation updates and also a large number of updated translations. Many thanks to all the contributors who worked hard on delivering those changes in time. We hope it will help people feel better in their daily use of computers!

The next stable version of GNOME will be GNOME 2.26.3, which is due on July 1st. Meanwhile, the GNOME community is actively working on the unstable branch of GNOME that will become GNOME 2.28 in September 2009.
