Download Gnome 2.16
Last night version 2.16 was released of Gnome, one of the popular desktop environments for *nix systems. In this release, things have traditionally changed again. For example, visual changes have been made, such as a new icon theme and a compositing engine to display special window effects. Furthermore, some new applications have been added to Gnome 2.16, such as Tomboy, Orca and Alacarte. In addition, already existing Gnome programs have been expanded with more functionality. A more extensive overview of the changes can be found in this news item and of course also in the release notes on the Gnome site itself.
The download locations of the Gnome 2.16 source code are as follows:
Those who do not want to compile themselves will have to wait until the Linux distributors include Gnome 2.16 in their products, which will be the case with future versions of Ubuntu, OpenSuse, Fedora Core and Mandriva, among others.
