Software Update: Gimp 2.6.7

The Gimp Team released version 2.6.7 of the open source photo editing program Gimp on Friday. The name Gimp is an abbreviation for ‘GNU Image Manipulation Program’. The software is available for various operating systems, including FreeBSD, Linux, Mac OS X and Solaris. Although not officially supported by The Gimp Team, Jernej Simoncic is working on a installer that can be used under Windows. In version 2.6.7, the user interface in particular has been improved, which was often criticized for opening the many screens. The first steps have also been taken with regard to the integration of gl, which should offer higher color depth and improved editing capabilities in the future. Below you will find all the improvements made to Gimp since version 2.6.6:

• Tablet pan is not working as fast as it should

• Levels tool does not adjust output levels correctly if input levels are changed
• Import from PDF throws errors when entering resolution in pixels per millimeter
• Black pixels appear in “Spread” filter preview
• Path Dialog: Path preview pics not to see constantly
• gimp_gradient_get_color_at() may return out-of-bounds values
• Rectangle select tool size shrinks to 0 if size is larger than the image and the up or down arrow is pressed
• crash when invoking certain actions by keyboard shortcut
• Closing maximized image doesn’t restore document window size
• Perspective transformation on a layer with a mask causes crash
• GIMP crashes when right-click canceling a drawing action initiated outside layer boundaries
• when printing, the number of copies should be reset to 1
